What does it mean to rent without excess?

When you rent a car with an excess, you are responsible for the first X euros of any damage, even if you have insurance. If there is a bump or a scratch, you pay that amount out of pocket before the insurance coverage kicks in.

With a full insurance policy without excess, that responsibility disappears. The insurance covers damages from the first euro, with no additional payment required in the event of a covered accident.

Many companies offer removing the excess as an optional extra. At Autos 21 Rent a Car, insurance without excess is included in the price of all our vehicles, with no exceptions.

Renting without excess in Menorca

What is the difference between excess and deposit?

They are two different concepts. The excess is the part of the damage you are responsible for in the event of an accident. The deposit is an amount that many companies block on your card when you pick up the car as a guarantee, regardless of whether there is damage or not. At Autos 21 Rent a Car, we do not apply either of them.

Do I need to leave my credit card to pick up the car?

You don’t need a credit card for a deposit, because we don’t require any deposit.
Rental payment can be made by credit or debit card (Visa or Mastercard). When booking, you can pay the full amount or a 25% deposit and the rest upon vehicle pickup in the case of Preferential delivery, and if you select Self Check-in, 24/48 hours before your arrival in Menorca.

What happens if I have an accident or there is damage to the car?

Notify us within 24 hours of the incident. You will find an accident report form in the vehicle’s glove compartment. With full comprehensive insurance with no excess, covered accident damage does not generate any additional cost for you. If you do not notify us within this timeframe, the insurance coverage may be void.

Is the insurance with no excess included in the price or does it need to be purchased separately?

It is included in the price of all our vehicles. It is not an optional extra or a supplement added at the end of the booking. The price you see when booking already includes full comprehensive insurance with no excess, VAT, and unlimited mileage. No surprises.

Are there any costs NOT included in the rental price?

Yes, so you know from the start: tyres and rims are not covered by the standard insurance (we offer optional additional coverage that you can add during the booking process).

Pick-ups or returns outside normal opening hours (before 8:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m.) are subject to an additional fee. If you choose to pick up your car with Self check-in you avoid this additional fee.

And if the car is returned with less fuel than it was delivered with, the difference plus a refuelling surcharge will be charged. Everything else is already included.
